Bifröst, 2016
This body of work is a continuation of my little arrangements with the supernatural. It is the result of a residency in Iceland that was made possible thanks to the support of the Leenaards grant*.
I went to this country looking for traces of religious syncretism, of the hidden people, of Irish slaves and pagan cults.
Set of photographs, wallpapers, scans, collages and sculptures, Bifröst (literally meaning glittering bridge – rainbow in Norse mythology) revisits ancestral forms of imagination, beliefs and stories linked to this insular culture. Somewhere in between folklore and autobiography, games of scales and simulacra, the series takes us to a place where legends meet Mr. Do It Yourself…
