Libre et sauvage, 2012
The series Libre & Sauvage was built over time through fantasized mental images. Along the process, Emily Brontë’s writings and Gustave Courbet’s paintings amongst others, nourished the composition of the story.
Through a mix of studio shots, interventions, and documentary images, this series revisits the Romantic fascination for an almighty nature.
Vacillating between interior and exterior, fully constructed worlds and reality, a tension is installed. The result reveals the duality of this beauty ideal, yet sometimes bringing nature to the level of a decorative element.
